Chris McKaskell
Director of Craft
Chris McKaskell spent his formative years building stage sets and working behind the scenes on the technical side of theatre, exploring how art and architecture interact. From there, he earned a degree in Art History and Physical Geography from the University of Toronto while working as a carpenter. Next, he continued to hone his craft through an intensive apprenticeship, which included work in a woodcarving studio, antique restoration shop, two pipe organ factories and a custom cabinet and architectural woodworking shop. In 1995, he and Chris Haindl formed McKaskell Haindl Design Build, which later came together with Covenant Construction in 2023. Today, Chris pays it forward by mentoring our apprentices and junior cabinet makers at Covenant. When he’s not busy carving, he loves to volunteer, teach martial arts, cook and make use of his small kitchen garden. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their Siberian Husky.
