Minimal Meets Personal
These clients wanted to personalize their space and make it more reflective of their taste and style. Their goal was to achieve an open concept environment, functional for their day-to-day life.
*At CLAY, our team occasionally works with other renovators and builders as determined by our clients. The construction work for this project was completed by Brodco Construction Ltd.
An Open, Inviting Kitchen and Dining Area
The removal of dining room walls, paired with a diverse selection of materials - including veneers, walnut and oak - established a more open, relaxed and inviting main floor space. An 18-foot countertop, which incorporates multiple materials and a built-in cooktop, creates a natural gathering place for family and friends.
“Our kitchen incorporates function and beauty seamlessly and really is the heart of our home. The island table has become a place for our children to do their homework or play on their computers, and our fireplace makes our family room a warm and inviting place.”

Powder and Laundry Rooms
An updated powder room and laundry area helped add to the home’s main floor aesthetic. To tuck away laundry appliances, this spare bedroom includes a trifold door with a heavy duty recessed hinge system, all of which is high quality and will last for years.
Overall, the main, shared focus of this project was making this space personal and what the clients wanted. It was a pleasure to see them embrace the concept of designing their space for themselves - not based on trends, what’s popular, or what a new owner might prefer someday.
It was a pleasure to help them create updated spaces that are both personal and minimal, while incorporating thoughtful details they took pride in.
