A Ravishing Reconfiguration
These clients were looking to reimagine and reconfigure their main floor space to ensure it felt more spacious, open and cohesive. Unsure how it would all come together, they approached CLAY for help with everything from design to the finishing touches.
After reviewing the clients’ needs and goals, a plan was designed to add a great room and laundry room suited for everyday daily life, relocate the dining room to the former living room area, and relocate the deck at the back of the home while minimizing intrusion into the backyard.
A Unified Kitchen and Dining Space
The kitchen was updated with 3 different cabinet colours - a soft gray, dark gray and white. Cabinetry was also added to the dining room to ensure generous storage space and a cohesive look and feel. A buffet top was added in the same colour as the fireplace mantle, nodding to the great room towards the back of the home.
“I had a fantastic experience from start to finish with my kitchen renovation and addition. The process was smooth and well-coordinated, and the result is a beautiful and functional space that I absolutely love. The updated kitchen has brought new life to my home, with its modern design and improved layout making it a joy to cook and entertain in. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!”

Bright, Functional Great Room
A vaulted ceiling was added to the family’s new great room to provide depth, and big windows opened the space to the backyard, giving them the ability to enjoy natural light and a beautiful, soothing outdoor view. Careful colour selections ensured this space flowed with the kitchen and dining area seamlessly. Lastly, a linear fireplace was added with a stunning slate tile and open mantle which matched the colour of the hardwood floors.

Exterior Enhancements
In order to accommodate these changes while ensuring a unified look and feel, existing exterior windows were painted, the roof was re-framed, siding was updated and brick was carefully selected to match the existing exterior of the home. This client was wondering how it would all tie together, but in the end, a new visitor would never know that an addition and reconfiguration took place!
When all was said and done, this transformed space was open, airy and felt surprisingly large despite a smaller square footage.
